Selecting the Best Massage Therapist In Denver, CO...for YOU!!!

For those who are looking for a Massage Therapist in the Denver area, the task can seem overwhelming with such a saturated market of therapists in the area.  When searching it's best to determine exactly what you are needing and/or wanting from your Massage Therapist or Massage Therapy establishment.  Do you want spa services in addition to Massage? Is parking an important factor? Is the location convenient for you?  Is a peaceful, quiet environment important or do you prefer a gym or boot camp type setting for athletes?

Once you've determined what type of business you'd like to visit, it's time to choose a Therapist.  So what are things to look for when choosing a Therapist?  In my opinion, there are certain qualities that separate the Best Therapists and the rest: Pursuit of Continuing Education, Personal Presentation and Clear Business Purpose.

In my opinion, Continuing Education, whether technique or pathology based, shows the Therapists is not intellectually lazy.  It shows a care and love of the profession in that the therapist is trying to grow, continue to learn and help clients in a better way.  The therapist investing in Continuing Education is investing their time and efforts to better their techniques and understanding of the body--leading to a more affective treatment repertoire to pull from. The therapist who hasn't studied since massage school gives an impression they are satisfied with their knowledge base and lack motivation to grow and evolve into a more result oriented Therapist.

In massage, we therapist not only have to market our skill set but also ourselves. We are essentially selling our personality to the client--massage is a relationship based on touch--a great massage can be ruined by a sour attitude or immodest dress.  That's where personal presentation comes in.  When a therapist is scantily dressed and provocatively posed, their main intent is most likely not to attract professionals, but those looking for illegal services. If a therapist presents themselves in a humble, professional light--one can be a little more sure the therapist is in it for the right reason--to help those in need.

A clear business direction should be evident from the initial view of a therapist or business website.  If it seems they are all over the map without ever really focusing or capitalizing on their strong suit, their massage may be similar--all over with no clear direction. Some gear more towards relaxation component others sacrifice that for intense, but needed changes....Others strive to blend the two.  If it seems the Therapist is only listing words with prices...and not conveying their conviction or determining factors, they most likely, in my opinion, are in it for the money.   Those are the most dangerous types of therapists; as they will ignore contraindications or work too deeply for pressure sake.

There inferences are all my own opinion. These re things that as a therapist I look for when selecting a therapist for Massage.  Above all, the feeling of safety and trust is the most important thing.  Use reputable sites when searching, craigslist is not recognized as such among most Professional Therapists. Talk to them on the phone before booking--if you are apprehensive bring a friend to wait in the car or ask of they can he present during the massage.  Always trust your instincts and never go to someones house unless you personally know them or personally know, very well, an existing client of said Therapist.

Everything mentioned above is simply my opinion, not meant to be taken and adopted as your truth--just sharing some thoughts and opinions that may help those struggling to make a decision.   I hope that when you begin your search of Massage Therapist in Denver, CO you give Brandon Lowry Massage In Denver a look :) and if you feel comfortable, give me a call :)

Deep Tissue Massage tool for Denver And Highlands

A substitute for Professional Deep Tissue Massage Therapists in Denver, CO!!

Have you heard of the Theracane? Well they'll appreciate this free advertisement I'm about to give because I am huge believer in this wonderful tool and you should be too :-)

The Theracane is something I personally own and recommend to almost all my clients--who enjoy the Deep Tissue Massage Techniques. The Theracane, in my humble opinion, is a great substitute for a Professional Neuromuscular Massage Therapist in Denver, Colorado for many, many reasons. I'd like to highlight three of the qualitites that make this such a great tool: it's portability/storage, ability to provide focused deep pressure or Trigger Point Therapy, and it's overall sturdy build quality.

One of the more desirable qualities is the theracane's lite weight and small build. It is discrete and small enough to easily store under a desk, vehicle backseat or trunk--and can quickly be accessed and used at your desk or while you're stuck in traffic (never use while driving of course).  The design also allows for hanging the Cane on a door hook, closet clothing bar or wall-hook.

The Theracane is wonderfully capable to provide Trigger Point Therapy by looping the hooked portion of the shoulder, properly aligning the hooked portions' knob to the 'knot'--making sure to stay off of the spine and in the lamina groove. Grabbing the two knobs located midway on the staff portion, push forward. Adjusting the amount of forward force to your comfort level, hold the pressure for 30 seconds, break for 15 seconds and repeat two more times (holding the pressure 3 times for 30 seconds each time).  This protocol is often used in Neuromuscular or Trigger Point Massage Therapy and is sufficient at dissipating Trigger Points; which are those painful 'knots' that often radiate pain to another area. For regular maintenance, start at the top of your neck and work down both sides of the spine--this may help with numbness or tingling in the arms and hands; as well as promoting good overall circulation.

The last aspect is equally as important  as the first two--we all enjoy a nice product, especially one that lasts and can stand up to normal use; as well as the careless use things often sustained. .  Although it lacks a lot of weight, the hardened green plastic-like build is very firm and offers very little flexibility--no snapping this cane easily.  It should be noted that the cane does allow, if properly used, enough give to ensure you don't hurt yourself by applying deep pressure

The Theracane in my opinion is a wonderful tool to use in situations where you cannot get an appointment with a  Massage Therapist. For those mornings you wake up with a crick-in-your-neck or you 'slept wrong', the Theracane is a great emergency tool. Although nothing can truly beat the skilled hands and palpation skills of a Professional Therapeutic Massage Therapist.

You can purchase at Theracane.com...I have no affiliation or relationship with Theracane.com or any of its affiliates other than owning a Theracane tool myself.  I do not get commission, perks or kick-backs from them in any way. I just believe in the product :)

Your Lifestyle: How It May Affect The Potential Benefits of Massage Therapy...

Living in both Southern Louisiana and Denver, I've seen the benefits of massage that are constant and those variable elements that change with location.  I am speaking specifically of the level of health conscious living vs a sedentary lifestyle, of the two aforementioned places. Denver, is undoubtedly one of the most active cities in America.  In seeing a increase in the health conscious population, I have also witnessed a dramatic shift in the ways in which Deep Tissue Massage Therapy helps clients.

In Louisiana, there is definitely a health oriented population and I truly treasure my Louisiana heritage and upbringing; however, it's residents concern for proper nutrition, hydration and exercise truly pales in comparison. I've been in practicing Massage Therapy in Downtown Denver for a little over a year--During which I never drastically changed my massage style--so what else changed that could cause such notable change in Massage effectiveness.  Perhaps it is the fact that now instead of having a 80/20 percent ratio of sedentary vs active clients practicing healthy living; I know have a clientele with 95/5 percent ratio with the health oriented clients grossly outnumbering those who are, albeit blunt, lazy and unhealthy...again, not saying Louisiana is 100% obese or that Denver doesnt have a fair share of free-eaters--but the truth is evideny by visiting any park here in Denver or walking through Downtown Denver 16th Street Mall.

Seasoned therapists have shared a similar opinion of properly maintained And nourished muscles versus those of a sedentary person.  For those lacking proper hydration and nourishment, the skin generally feels dry and coarse in areas that are primarily untouched--unlike the hands, elbows or feet.  If this physiological change is notable at the outermost layer of our tissue, imagine what affect is caused to the deeper tissues of the body.

It's also welcomed common knowledge among Massage Therapists that Muscle tissues that are routinely excercised, stretched, hydrated and nourished respond differently and more readily to many massage techniques employed my Deep Tissue therapists--specifically, Muscle fibers and Connective Tissues that are accustomed to being activated, having a healthy blood flow and that are hydrated tend to be more easily manipulated and changed with Trigger Point therapy or Neuromuscular Therapy. The ability, willingness of the muscle fibers to change, with an active client, not only makes it easier to see results with the clients session but also the sustainability of the changes of longer periods of time.
